Heaven is a choice only I can make
of when this journey will my soul partake
Shall I sleep? Or shall I awake?
Awake from this dream of mortal life
and loose from my hand
death’s jagged knife
that spills streams of sorrow
and rivers of strife.
Tossed aside is the rock from the cave
Releasing that which was in a grave
No more a man, no more a slave.
No more will I know
this path of woe
that tells me I have far to go.
Far to go before I see my home.
Miles to march on cutting stones.
Through ice-cold water that chills my bones.
For now I know this to be untrue.
every thing I thought I knew.
Has vanished into this ocean blue.
For to glimpse as told of my Father’s son,
In David’s presence, am I undone.
Nothing e’er can be lost, for victory is already won.
In his later books and lectures, Neville Goddard tells the most fantastical stories of his “birth from above”. Stories in which he is literally born out of his own skull, which he likens to the story of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In a subsequent vision, he meets David, of Biblical fame—the slayer of Goliath, and the author of many of the Psalms.
David addresses him as Father. And then he knows that David is his Son, and that he must be David’s father - the Holy Father.
This poem is partly inspired by those stories.
