We are the masters of our fate, the captains of our souls - BECAUSE we have the power to control our thoughts.
Napolean Hill
Good Morning friends!
I’m starting something new this week.
My primary place to write is Medium, Previously, I've been simply regurgitating my posts from there, and hoping to get views.
But I'm coming to realize that Substack is nothing like Medium. And I need to use a different approach to spread my message here. So starting with this post I'm going to get more informal, more raw.
Share what's going on in my life.
What I'm doing, what I'm reading, and what lessons I'm learning.
And, if you want more, I highly encourage you to follow me on Medium! It's a great way to support and encourage the craft of writing. I'll also be sharing some of my posts from Medium. ( without a paywall-thanks to my friend of medium status!)
I hope you like this. Leave me a comment to let me know what you think!
Road to 400
This month I started a series on Medium based on the goal I set to earn $400 in February. Every day I post my progress, along with an inspirational message.
I know it may seem crass and “unspiritual" to do this. But we err when we think in this way.
There is nothing wrong with money. In its true sense, it is merely the physical manifestation of love. It is how we show love and spread love.
The free flow of money ensures our survival- and more than survival, allows us to thrive! and there should be no shame in that.
I’m a bit off the pace of my goal - with just over $40 here on Feb 8. But things are picking up, and I'm looking forward to amazing things!

3 Feet From Gold
One of the books I'm currently reading is Think and Grow Rich.
In this classic book, Napoleon Hill tells the story of R.U. Darby, a young man who went looking for gold in Colorado during the gold rush days of the mid-19th century.
After much searching, he found a promising deposit with what promised to be large amounts of gold. -Returning home, he raised funding from many people in his hometown to purchase the Equipment to mine the gold.
But after digging up a small amount_ which was not sufficient to pay his creditors, he discovered to his horror that he had hit an end.
He searched and searched in vain, hoping to pick up the Vern again. but he was never able to. He ultimately gave up and returned home, selling off his equipment to a "Junk Man” before leaving.
But this "Junk Man” was no fool. He sought expert counsel, and discovered that the deposit had not" dried up". The vein crossed a fault line, which had shifted the vein 3 feet along that line!
He drilled with this knowledge, found the continuation of the vein, and became a very wealthy man!
The stores of gold in the world are limited — because they are of the world. But the real gold, the spiritual gold — in the form of thought, that is “mined” from the minds of men — is unlimited.
The truth is, the key to your success is so close! It’s not 3 feet away. It’s not even 3 inches away.
It’s closer than your skin. Closer than your breath.
The key to your success lies within you.

A Quiet Life
I just started listening to the Audible Original Series - "A Quiet Life in Seven Steps" By Susan Cain. It's an amazing series, and it resonates so much with me.
Cain talks about how some of us have this feeling that life should be something different that what it is.
More than the Rat Race. The endless competition and striving for more.
More contemplative, More introspective.
More focused on art and beauty.
It hit a nerve, as someone who lost sight of this inner nature in myself, working in a technical role for decades.
I’m looking forward to learning more as continue the series!

Finally, I end with a poem- especially for my paid subscribers!
Be Not Dismayed
Be not dismayed that the world seems against you
Be not sad when all hope seems lost
