Blurry images that set hearts to race!

Hello, My Love!

This is a reprint of a poem I published back in April, just after we had learned the gender of my first grandchild (a girl). I am re-releasing it today (with some edits) because my daughter Lauren just went into the hospital this morning, and should be giving birth in the next day or so. And I figured if there was an appropriate time to re-release it, it would be now!

Ten fingers
Ten toes
A hint of the cutest button-nose
A curve of a back
two legs extended in repose
a story told in white and black.

What details that did elude my grasp
concreted by my daughter's words.
A picture of what joys will come
causes my heart to sing and hum
akin to a soaring bird.

I’ve looked hopefully upon
such a joyous day so long
Once I thought it might never come
or maybe only after from
this body my soul had gone.

Blessings come every day
to those with eyes to see them.
But rarely do they come as planned
for as they say of mice and men
they are but laid on shifting sand.

The greatest blessings are often then
the ones which come as a surprise
That seem a devastating thing
That often have an ominous ring
prompting us to our fate despise.

So sing this song of praise with me
for in sorrow, I shall never be!
Even for that which comes unexpectedly.

The daughter of my daughter comes!
My heart, it beats as if a drum
So eager for that happy day
when love will melt our cares away
and only love will have its say
and will never utter a word of pity.

In wholeness, we become more complete
Life becomes evermore so sweet
as to her loving eyes
my own do meet
the day I turn one and fifty.1

As wonderful as it is to greet a new life into our family, it is made even more special because of the struggles my lovely daughter and I went through, as I talk about in this post. As well as this poem.

And I am so thankful for how this experience has brought us much closer together and healed the wounds of our relationship.

Remember that as hopeless as things may seem to be, miracles are everywhere. And yours is just around the corner, waiting for you to become aware of it.

Namaste, Precious and Holy Child of God!

That Long, Dark Night

Her original due date was Oct 8, which is my birthday. But in part due to the baby’s large size (estimated at 9 1/2 lbs today), She asked to be induced early. Hopefully, all goes well! You can join me in praying that it will!
